Fixed slideshow and added CoolIris Piclens Support

by Ryan on Jun.20, 2009, under New Features

I realized the other day that the slide show was no longer working in the image galleries. I FINALLY got it fixed tonight. After hours of research I finally realized what was wrong and it was a quick and easy fix.

Also I added support for CoolIris Piclens. It’s a pretty cool image viewer plug-in.

New Widget

by Ryan on Jun.13, 2009, under New Features, Tech

After spotting a Zune widget on another site… I had to install one on mine. It’s in the right panel and will update regularly to display what I’ve been listening to the most recently (hopefully my secret Beyonce addiction won’t be outed with this thing). For the full profile click here.

Zune HD Confirmed

by Ryan on May.27, 2009, under Announcements

Ahhh… back to the tech-mongering.  Microsoft officially announced (the long rumored) Zune HD.  Ars Technica (and every other tech blog) has a pretty good write up on it if you’re curious about specs but this thing looks HOT.

Vincent has arrived!

by Ryan on May.27, 2009, under Announcements

I haven’t posted in awhile and for good reason.  Vincent was born on 4-30.  For now I have some videos posted on the 4.30.2009 page but I’m thinking of moving the V-man content to Flickr to keep this site focused on the photography.  We’ll have to see what how the lack of sleep and general pain-in-the-ass factors line up.

HTC Dream (G1) from T-Mobile

by Ryan on Apr.04, 2009, under Tech

I’ve looked at pricing a lot lately and it looks like the HTC Dream is a pretty decent deal.  The iPhone is pretty much out of the running at this point and Sprint’s plans don’t look too hot.  To get a family plan on Sprint all users need to have similar needs (everyone uses data or everyone uses voice but you can’t mix and match).

T-Mobile seems to have decent family plans and it looks like you can add data to only 1 phone on the plan.  Video of the HTC Dream (or G1) after the jump.  Rumors are buzzing a bit about a G2 coming in May but the G2 is supposedly removing the tactile keyboard and moving the keyboard directly to the touch screen.  We’ll see…

Cnet has an article up comparing the Pre to the iPhone 3G (with the new OS software).  Check it out here.  Things look pretty neck and neck until you the pricing.  You can draw your own conclusions on that.

Canon Announces Digital Rebel T1i

by Ryan on Mar.25, 2009, under Announcements

Canon lost the #1 manufacturer spot to Nikon in 2007 because of Nikon’s dSLR’s.  I tried to find some stats on the current market breakdown but apparently… those aren’t the easiest to come by.  I would says it’s a safe bet to say Nikon is still 1, Canon is close 2, with Sony a very distant 3 and everyone else coming in after that.

Regardless of the specific numbers it’s safe to say that Nikon and Canon will probably continue to trade that #1 spot for awhile and with Nikon surging due to dSLR’s you had to expect an answer from Canon at some point.

Canon just announced the Digital Rebel T1i (which I think is a new line of dSLR’s to replace it’s Xsi series).  You can click the link for the full article but a summary of the specs: 15mp sensor, max ISO 3200 (with 6400 and 12800 “settings” which I’m skeptical of), 1080p video at 20 fps, 720p video at 30 fps and your typical 18-55 kit lens (doesn’t specify image stabilization which seems 0dd).  It’s estimated price is $800 – $900.
